A domain name gives your site a unique identity on the Internet. A domain name such as 'mydomain.com.au' provides an easy-to-remember Internet address.

A domain name also allows you to brand your email to your business eg. mike@mydomain.com.au instead of mike@myisp.com.au. This also means that if you change Internet Service Providers, your email address doesn't have to change, and you don't need to go through the hassle and cost of informing all your contacts of a new address.

Important Information Regarding .au Domains

All .au domains (except .id.au and .au.com) require an ABN, ACN or RBN. The domain must:

• be an exact match of the name registered to the ABN/ACN/RBN,
• be an abbreviation of the name registered to the ABN/ACN/RBN, or
• be a product or service offered by the ABN/ACN/RBN owner.

If your application does not meet this criteria, the domain name application will be rejected.
